Fiat 500x Review
When FIAT returned to selling their vehicles in the U.S., they burst onto the scene with the 500, which effectively distinguished them from the other subcompact cars on the market. Since then, FIAT has expanded their offerings to include variables on the 500, including the 2018 FIAT 500X.
Drivers in Ontario, Wayne County and Sodus can learn more about the unique style, features and performance of this updated model by reading our detailed 2018 FIAT 500X review.
FIAT 500X Performance
The base 2018 FIAT 500X is equipped with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The optional engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard for all models, with all-wheel drive optional for the 2.4-liter engine models.
Either engine ofafers plenty of spunk and athleticism, with high maneuverability and dynamic driving. Both transmissions offer smooth shifts, the steering is precise and light and both engines are quick and capable, though the 2.4-liter is the better performer.
FIAT 500X Interior
For a subcompact SUV, the FIAT 500X’s cabin feels spacious and airy, especially in the front seats. The head- and legroom is comfortable throughout, even with the front seats all the way back, and the seats are plush and supportive. With multi-way adjustable seating, the driver and passengers have the option of tailoring the seats to their optimal comfort.
The ride is smooth and even, easily absorbing road imperfections, and the interior does a great job of cancelling out the exterior noise. The cargo capacity is impressive for its size, and the 60/40-split folding rear seats allow for more cargo space. Several small, useful bins are found in the front seat area for small item storage.
