2018 Jeep Wrangler Review

2018 Jeep Wrangler

Driving through the streets of Ontario, Wayne County, and Sodus can certainly be satisfying, but sometimes life calls for an adventure off the beaten path. Going off-road in a vehicle that can handle the terrain is an experience like no other. You just need to make sure you have a vehicle that can conquer the challenge.

For an off-roader you can count on, there’s no replacing the brand that’s built its reputation on off-road capability. Jeep vehicles are the masters of trailblazing, and no Jeep is more famous than the Wrangler. The latest iteration only shows off this legacy more with its numerous features and incredible capability. Learn more about the 2018 Jeep Wrangler in our comprehensive review.

Trail Rated

2018 Jeep Wrangler TrailsNo matter which trim level you opt for, you’ll have the benefit of a Trail Rated Jeep Wrangler. In order to earn that kind of designation, the Wrangler was submitted to a series of off-roading tests that it had to pass with flying colors. These tests address a wide variety of features like traction and articulation. Every single Wrangler performed admirably, thanks in large part to the 4×4 systems.

All the 4×4 systems have something special to offer. The 2018 Selec-Trac system, for example, can switch from 2WD to 4WD on the fly to account for changes in traveling conditions. The Command-Trac® does much of the same, in addition to offering a 2.72:1 low range that’s perfect for rock crawling. Even so, nothing grips quite like the Rock-Trac® system that comes complete with the NV241-Off-Road transfer case.

Engine Options

Under the hood of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, you’ll find the familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine. This is one of the most renowned engines in the industry, thanks to its 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Despite all that strength, you’ll still find remarkable fuel economy that comes in at an EPA-estimated 17 MPG city and 23 MPG highway, a new record for a Wrangler model.

Of course, you could always opt for the alternative option as well. The 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder doesn’t offer quite as much horsepower, producing 270 at most, but increases torque up to 295 lb-ft. Equipped with eTorque and mild hybrid technology, this engine brings the Wrangler into the modern age with unrivaled effectiveness and efficiency.

Safety

2018 Jeep Wrangler SafetyBefore you head out on your off-road adventure, you need to be sure that your Jeep Wrangler can keep you and your passengers safe. Fortunately, the 2018 model has been outfitted with some of the best safety features on the market. The chassis itself is built with powerful steel beams designed to divert energy around the cabin. Even so, you’ll find an advanced front- and side-airbag system in your Wrangler to ensure everyone is protected.

Additionally, the Wrangler has numerous technological features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection that can help you avoid collisions. These systems constantly monitor your blind spot and alert you if anything is detected. There’s even the ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System that uses sonar to send alerts if you’re about to hit something while backing up.
