2018 Ram 1500

If you’re looking for a pickup truck that can handle everything that you need to haul and tow around Ontario, Wayne County, and Sodus, you can’t go wrong with the ever-popular Ram 1500. It’s a long-standing favorite amongst the pickup-driving crowd for a reason, delivering the muscle and durability to handle anything you task it with. This 2018 Ram 1500 review from the team at Peake Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT will delve into everything you need to know about this year’s version of the truck.

2018 Ram 1500 Concept

The 1500 is built with a high-strength steel frame that provides the durability you need for even your heaviest jobs. Hill Start Assist comes standard, giving you the ability to crawl forward from a stop when heading up a steep grade, even when you have heavy cargo in tow.

You’ll also get standard Trailer Sway Control, which works to apply individual wheel brakes, or to reduce engine power to keep both your truck and trailer under control at all times. When properly equipped with all the necessary equipment, the Ram 1500 can tow a maximum of 10,620 pounds. Plus, you’ll also have a maximum payload capacity of 1,880 pounds, if properly equipped. That means you can load up all of the equipment you need, plus haul your boat, trailer, or ATV with ease.

2018 Ram 1500 Performance

Three different engines are available in the Ram truck, so you can opt for the one that delivers the power you need. The standard engine is a 3.6L Pentastar® V6, which produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This option is EPA-estimated to achieve 17 city/25 highway MPG.

Next in the lineup is a 3.0L Ecodiesel V6 that delivers 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an EPA-estimated 21 city/29 highway MPG. The most powerful option, though, is a 5.7L HEMI® V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, which achieves 15 city/22 highway MPG.

All three options come with a Torqueflite® 8-speed automatic transmission, which features an advanced Thermal Management System. This useful system works to optimize transmission fluid temperature for improved durability and efficiency.

Ram 1500 Space

Whether you need your truck’s cabin to seat two people, or your whole family of six, there’s a variety of different cab styles to choose from, so you can opt for the space you need. Plus, there’s a few different bed lengths, so you can choose the one with the cargo space you need for your equipment.

  • Regular Cab: Two doors, with seating for two or three. Can be had with a 6-foot, 4-inch bed; or an 8-foot bed.
  • Quad Cab®: Four doors, with seating for five or six. Only available with a 6-foot, 4-inch bed.
  • Crew Cab: Four doors, with even more roomy seating for five or six. Can be had with a 5-foot, 7-inch bed; or a 6-foot, 4-inch bed.
