Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Technology
Hybrid cars aren’t anything new at this point in time, but they are coming into their own and have come a long way since the original compact sedans that defined the class. Now, you can find hybrids in many different makes and models of cars, including minivans. It’s perhaps fitting that Chrysler, the brand that invented the minivan, continues to innovate with the new 2017 Pacifica hybrid.
Of course, drivers all over the U.S., including those in Wayne County, Ontario and Sodus, are becoming more discerning and demanding about their vehicles every day. They want outstanding technology as well as superior performance, so what can they expect from this new minivan? Explore the full range of 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid technology features and offerings, and learn where to take a test drive to experience them yourself.
Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Technology
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid technology offerings go far beyond an incredible, fuel-efficient engine, but that’s certainly the start of them. This three-row minivan seats seven and comes in two trim levels: the Premium and Platinum. Each offers its own suite of technology with various packages allowing for optional features.
The base level of the Pacifica is the Premium trim level, and this delivers solid standard equipment, including 6.6-kWh onboard charging, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, fog lights, power-slide doors and a power liftgate, power-fold heated side mirrors, keyless ignition, and keyless entry. Entertainment-wise, you get the Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, voice controls, Bluetooth, six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary jacks.
Additional technology includes three-zone automatic climate control, power adjust driver’s seat, heated front seats, a rearview camera, parking sensors, automatic parking, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. Optionally, you can add on a wireless charging pad for mobile devices.
The Platinum trim level takes everything up a notch. In addition to the above, you get hands-free door operation, power passenger seat, cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, an upgraded 13-speaker Alpine audio system, GPS navigation, and the Uconnect Theater back seat entertainment suite with DVD and Blu-ray capabilities, video screens, a household power outlet, and additional USB ports.
You also get adaptive cruise control, crash mitigation with automatic brakes, lane departure warnings, and surround-view camera system. Optionally, at this level, you can add a panoramic sunroof.
Engines and Performance
Of course, we’re talking about a hybrid here, so it’s important to address the engine and performance. This minivan comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine that delivers 260 horsepower and is backed up and augmented by twin electric motors. The whole is driven by a continuously variable transmission.
Hold onto your hats, folks, because this plug-in hybrid minivan delivers a mind-blowing EPA-estimated 84 mpg. Even further, its all-electric range is a full 33 miles, and current estimates are that you can get 566 miles on a single tank of gas plus a full charge. By comparison, the non-hybrid model gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg and a total range of 418 miles on one tank.
