Jeep Compass vs Jeep Cherokee Performance Review
The Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee share a lot of similarities in their engine specs, including a standard 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir®2 I4 engine. This engine puts out 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque.
They also both pair this engine with an efficient 9-speed automatic transmission. While this is the only transmission available for the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Compass gives you two more options: a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Although the Cherokee doesn’t have as many transmission options, it does feature two additional engines to choose from. One is the 3.2L Pentastar® V6 that delivers 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The other is the 2.0L Turbo I4 that puts out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
Driver-Assist Technology for the 2019 Compass vs Cherokee
Both the 2019 Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee offer plenty of technology that’s designed to provide additional support when you hit the road.
For example, they both have an available Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Path Detection (RCPD). These features work together to help you stay aware of other vehicles in your side and rear blind spots.
The Jeep Cherokee also offers an available Parallel and Perpendicular Park and Exit Assist System with Full Stop. This innovative feature can help you park when you reach your destination and safely pull out of a parallel parking space when you’re ready to leave again.
The Jeep Compass doesn’t offer a comparable feature, but it does have available rain-sensing windshield wipers, which you won’t find in the Cherokee. These automatically turn on and adjust their speed to match the rate of precipitation falling on the windshield. This way, you can focus the majority of your attention on navigating during inclement weather conditions.
Compass vs Cherokee Interior Design
Both the Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee can seat a total of five passengers, but their cargo capacities differ quite a bit:
- Jeep Compass (behind second row/behind first row): 27.2/59.8 cubic feet
- Jeep Cherokee (behind second row/behind first row): 24.6/54.9 cubic feet
Despite their slight differences in cargo volume, the two SUVs offer plenty of cargo space adaptability.
The Jeep Compass features an adjustable cargo floor that gives you three levels of versatility to suit your unique needs on any given day. You won’t find this feature in the Jeep Cherokee, but you will find an available Hands-Free Power Liftgate. This allows you to load up by simply waving your foot under the rear bumper to automatically open the hatch.
