Jeep Compass vs. Jeep Patriot
If you’re in the market for an adventure-ready crossover, look no further than the 2017 Jeep Compass or Jeep Patriot. Each provide spacious seating for five, Trail Rated® off-road abilities, and innovative Uconnect® infotainment, but which one is the best fit for your driving needs and routine?
We know how difficult choosing between Jeeps can be, so that’s why our team at Peake Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat decided to compare the 2017 Jeep Compass vs. Jeep Patriot side-by-side. Before taking one for a test drive around Ontario, Sodus, or Wayne County, keep reading to find out whether the Compass or Patriot is right for you.
Jeep Compass vs. Jeep Patriot: Interiors and Designs
Hop inside a Jeep Patriot or Compass, and you’ll find a cabin designed with the utmost precision and attention to detail.
With options like leather upholstery and heated seats, you can rest assured knowing each adventure in your Jeep will be a comfortable and luxurious one.
The Compass and Patriot share several design similarities: muscular-looking frames, high ground clearances, and Jeep’s iconic seven-slat front grille. However, the Compass is noticeably larger than the Patriot, offering over 126 cubic feet of interior volume. The Patriot’s interior, by contrast, provides just over 104 cubic feet.
The Compass’s larger interior translates to more cargo space with over 27 cubic feet of storage in the rear and a total of 59.8 cubic feet when its second row is folded down. The Patriot, comparatively, has a 23-cubic foot rear storage area. When its seats are folded down, the Patriot provides a total of 53.5 cubic feet. The Patriot’s cargo area should be plenty for most, but those who need extra room for things like camping supplies may prefer the Compass.
Jeep Patriot vs. Jeep Compass: Performances
The Jeep Patriot doesn’t offer quite as much power as the Compass, but drivers have two engines to choose from, whereas the Compass only offers one. The first is a 2.0L DOHC four-cylinder engine delivering 158 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 172 horsepower 2.4L four-cylinder that kicks out 165 lb-ft of torque.
Pop up the hood of a 2017 Jeep Compass, and you’ll find a 2.4L Tigershark® engine with a special MultiAir® 2 valvetrain system. This allows the Compass to run more efficiently while achieving up to 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual or automatic transmission sends power to the wheels, but drivers can upgrade to a class-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission to optimize the Compass’s performance even further.
